The short answer

Blackwell is a generational jump over Hopper, so a B200 brings more compute and more memory than an H100 or an H200 and it changes the arithmetic on the largest training runs and the busiest inference fleets. The constraint on a B200 is rarely the rate, it is getting the cards at all, because the silicon is newer, listed by fewer operators and scarcer again once you reach the rack-scale GB200 and GB300 systems.

01 · The caseWhy rent a B200

A B200 carries more compute and more memory than the Hopper generation beneath it, so a workload that was straining a cluster of H100 or H200 cards can often run on a smaller number of B200s with less coordination overhead between them. For the heaviest training and the highest-throughput inference, that consolidation is the point, because fewer, faster cards mean less time lost to the network between them.

The trade is scarcity and price. The B200 is newer, listed by fewer operators and priced accordingly, so a shortlist is often shaped by who can actually deliver the cards on the date you need rather than by the headline rate. That makes availability the first question on a B200 rental and the operator relationship worth more than a small saving.
